Gnome Extermination Company

Gnome Extermination Company is a round based first-person-shooter, where your main objective is to survive hoards of evil gnomes in a gnome infested research facility.This project was created in 9 months for SkillsUSA 2022, in collaboration with Jared Slattery during our independent study in game development. Gnome Extermination Company placed 1st in Kansas and 8th in the nation.

Minigame Series

To get out of a sort of "artist's block", I decided to start making small-scoped minigames. Scope-creep is notorious at discouraging developers; so, the goals for this series are to build discipline, strengthen my skills and knowledge, and to have fun creating stuff.To help motivate myself, I decided to start participating in month-long game jams. The themes provided at the start of each month will serve as a restraint, helping the creative process. These jams also have deadlines, which will help ensure each game is small-scoped and finished.

Hello! I'm Skyler, and I am a self-taught indie game developer of 8 years, with 2 years of formal training at Dodge City High School.I'm an artist at heart, and I believe that video games are the ultimate medium for life changing art. I am especially passionate about the design choices in games that players don’t necessarily get to see, but certainly feel when playing. I am all about player experience, and I hope to not only change the industry of gaming, but to change lives through my work.
